Lexcel 5.1 Update
Overview
Lexcel v6.1 and v5.1 launched in June 2018 to provide a flexible and supportive framework for law firms to consider and manage the impact of the following Regulations and Act on their businesses:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679);
- The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017;
- The European Union Financial Sanctions (Amendment of Information Provisions) Regulations 2017; and
- The Criminal Finances Act 2017.
Changes have been made to the three core Standards for legal practices and in-house departments in England and Wales (v6.1) and for organisations accredited against the International Standard, now v5.1.
From November 2018 all Northern Ireland firms will be assessed and re-assessed against Lexcel 5.1.
